My Life Is Like An Open Book… Conquering Your Fear Of Publishing Your Work

Open book on black

Publishing a book is like opening your heart and mind to the world; one of my biggest fears before I published Corrupted was the vulnerability I would feel at having my work scrutinised. This was amplified because the book is partly based on my experiences as an exotic dancer; a time in my life that many people did not previously know anything about, including my father, who is Japanese and has very traditional beliefs and values.

After a lot of procrastination I finally decided to take the leap of faith and put my work out there for the world to see. After countless rejections from literary agents and a chance meeting at my writer’s group I decided to self-publish my novel, one of the best decisions I have ever made!

It was a long time before I deemed my work worthy enough to be read. I edited my work incessantly…

Cap’n Joe’s #FUN Interview with #Radio Show Host the voluptuous Camille Sanzone

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Interviews

Cap’n Joe: Can you tell my readers a little about your background, and your nationality?

Camille: My full name is Camille Adelina Sanzone…that should tell you something right off the bat, Joe. I come from a very strict Sicilian family, but there was always lots of music, lots of food, lots of laughter, lots of food… Did I say that already? (Laughs.) I was raised with food to the left of me and food to the right of me. My luck – it settled in front of me and behind me.

Cap’n Joe: (Laughs.) I’ve seen your photo, Camille. I’m not seeing that.

Camille: Well, I am what you might politely call voluptuous, or as Garfield the Cat might describe as undertall. But it works for me; my full face helps push out wrinkles before they can take hold, and when I take off…

The Darkness of Space- There is more to it then an endless dark void

MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Video Blog

Re-blogged from http://marsocialauthorbusinessenhancementovionscifipost.wordpress.com/2014/05/24/the-darkness-of-space-there-is-more-to-it-then-an-endless-dark-void/

Dark matter is best described as the missing mass of the universe. Dark matter plays a central role in structure formation and galaxy evolution. Only about 4% of the total energy density in the universe (as inferred from gravitational effects) can be seen directly. About 22% is thought to be composed of dark matter. The remaining 74% is thought to consist of dark energy, an even stranger component, distributed diffusely in space. To date there is no direct evidence of its existence and a concrete understanding of its nature have remained elusive. Physicist are studying particles with low masses and interaction rates to discover evidence of dark matters.

The void of space The void of space

Dark Matter is bumpy and is needed to explain the formation of the observed density distribution of visible matter in the evolving universe. By contrast Dark Energy drives the presently observed accelerated expansion of the…

Adventures in Book Genre Stereotyping

Tara Sparling writes

Bootkissing Author

Another day, another Guardian article.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the Guardian’s Book section. It feeds me. But I don’t like it when it makes me feel guilty and ashamed. Especially when they’re right.

Today’s offensive (i.e. read: far too close to the bone) article points out that there is no such genre as “women’s fiction”. The article springs from a great rant by Joanne Harris. There should not be a separately designated genre on Amazon/GoodReads etc for women’s fiction, she says. It is literature. Or it is a book. It is not a woman’s book.

I couldn’t agree more. (Only it’s not just “women’s fiction” that gets this shoddy treatment. It goes for several more so-called genres too, maligned and derided by the Literati.)

And yet, as an emerging author, yet to properly sell myself on the open market, and yet hoping to do so in the near future, I have…

Annie's Sunset
I am inspired in my writing by many things and events. Romance is a wonderful thing to think about, and inspiration is everywhere, if you are romantic hearted, if it’s excitement rocks your world as it does mine. My book just took control of my psche, it drove me to chronicle it’s story immediately! Once I have a story it compels me to finish, to read again, and again with a fresh-eye.

I always have a journal or computer so that I can jot down things:Annie Edmonds in a dress

Second Chances-Sammy’s Story is a fictional mature romance novel about Samantha Raine, a 30-year-old widow, and her courageous trek back to life.

Samantha Raine was widowed at age thirty and now two years later she wanted more out of life than what she had in New Jersey. Her two best friends Kelly and Garrett offered her a job to watch their Florida beach front home for three months while they were away on vacation and she knew she had to take the chance to see if a change in scenery was what she needed to start her new life.

Included in the story is Jake Monroe, a self-made millionaire, and a well-established Architect builder who lived on Siesta Key in Southwest Florida. He owned his own construction company and was part owner of a private BDSM club called; Desire.

The body of the story entwines these characters illuminating Sammy’s courage and triumph in her second time around. This erotic romance is spiced with some kinky drama and is sure to draw the reader in and leave them anticipating Sammy’s next adventure

Second Chances – Sammy’s Story

This story involves romantic fantasy, fetishes, and other sexual components that leads me to classify my work as Erotic Romance, I would like to reach out to readers and those writers who dabble in this field, it is a very interesting topic to discuss. Please feel free to ask advice with Dear Annie Questions, or voice your opinions. We will discuss this online in our comments or strategize a story.

Gwen Selix

1. Did you pick your genre or did it pick you?: I feel like fantasy picked me honestly. Ever since I was little I loved going into worlds that were made up. I read Narnia at a young age and spent many summer days trying to get there and imagining I was helping Aslan. I always knew fantasy was where I belonged it was the place I could be me.

2. Do you write in multiple genres or just one?: I write several, YA Fantasy, Paranormal, Dark Fantasy, and Romance
3. How much time do you devote to writing per day?: I try to do at least 5-8 hours a day sometimes its more and sadly sometimes its way less.

4. What have you published so far?: So far just my first novel Shadows of Pandora book 1 in the Evermore trilogy.

5. Has your method of writing changed over the course of publishing your books?: It has when I wrote Shadows I wrote it all start to finish. It was a really hard process I thought that was how you were supposed to write. Now I am writing as ideas and Chapters come to me and piecing them together as I go. I have already gotten a second novel about finished and book 2 in the series well on its way writing that way.

6. Where do you see yourself a year from now?: A year from now I would love to see my name on the NY TImes bestsellers list and doing several book tours and signings.

7. Did you self-publish, go the traditional way, or do both?: I published through a small company Pure Ice Publishing but it is an indie publishing house so it is both.

8. Which method did you prefer?: So far this is working for me it takes a lot of work to get my book out there though but I don’t mind I want people to experience the world of Evermore.

9. Of the books that you have written, do you have a favorite? Why?: Shadows if my first novel I finished. But I would have to say my favorite is book 2 Premonition. It takes such a huge turn for my characters lives that I can’t help but love it.

10. Why did you become a writer?: It is all I have ever wanted to do. When I was 3 years old I picked up my first book. I kinda skipped straight to chapter books. But I knew then that I wanted to be a writer. I wanted a chance to change peoples lives with my words the way other Authors had for me.

11. Who is your target audience? Young Adults is my genre but I hope like a lot of Young Adult novels it appeal to everyone.
12. What are you working on now?: I am working on a Dark Fantasy novel titled House on the Hill. As well as book 2 in the Evermore trilogy titled Premonition.

13. What makes you different from other writers in your genre?: I think the one thing that would make me stand out is my magic system I don’t use wands or spells. My magic is all in Runes and I love it.

If you could say anything in addition that would make this interview a great conversation about you please do here for answer 14.

I always tell people to keep dreaming big. I am doing one of the hardest jobs in the world but I love every moment of it. I feel like I was given the gift of story telling to change the world for the good. I have so many passions in life but writing is the one thing that has always been a constant for me. If I only touch one persons life with my writing at least I did that much in short time on this planet.

“When Pandora’s Box is opened after centuries of lying dormant, it’s up to Ariana, a young woman whose nightmares might be the key to everything, to save the world of Evermore from an inescapable darkness. With the fate of the world thrust upon her shoulders, will Ariana and her friends be able to overcome the hordes of legendary monsters, causing chaos and destruction worldwide or will the human race be doomed to extinction as Pandora’s army razes the land?

Join Ariana and her friends in the adventure of a lifetime.”
